There is a lot of buzz around digital marketing, particularly with recent economic changes. The advantage of most things digital is that they are highly trackable, and clearly able to demonstrate ROI and tangible success straight away.
Digital marketing however shouldn’t operate in a vacuum. It is part of an overall strategy designed to deliver against corporate objectives. And don’t you forget it. We never do.
So, although this is not an exhaustive list, here are some of the things we like to think about when we talk to people about digital marketing:
Blogs and webinars: We like blogs – we even write one ourselves, to share our musings with the rest of the world. And search engines like blogs too! If you have something worth saying, it is nicer to chat about it then issue some formal piece of writing. You can do that do, don’t get us wrong. We think it is important though to know who is blogging about you, your industry or your products and services. Don’t think it is just a one-way street. You’d be amazed at what people chat about in the blogosphere.
Webinars are good for talking to people at their own computers, resulting in low time investment, whilst still having the opportunity to have a quality conversation. We’ve worked on webinars for business-to-business and business-to-consumer, and its great fun. You can get some real time feedback, as well as having pre-qualified sales leads. You just need to be a good presenter to get it right, but we can help you with all that stuff.
On-line PR: We often find that on-line PR is one of those things that falls between several different departments. It isn’t quite PR, and it isn’t quite Marketing. But it can have such a great impact, particularly for driving traffic to your website, if it is done right. We can help you to make sure that it is being done right. We have some special people to make it happen!
Social networking: Facebook, MySpace, Twitter…. Where to spend your time and effort having the most impact? Should you even be there at all? Who else is there, and what are they doing? We can help you with all the answers, and get you tweeting with the best of them, providing it is the right thing for you to do.
Email: Its all about the quality of the list you know. And making sure you have enough people on the list to mail. We look at how to increase your contact list, how to engage with the people on your list, and how to make sure they know why they are talking to you in the first place. Email is good!
Search marketing: this is broadly about two things – search engine optimisation (which you have to get right from the development of your website in the first place) and then paid-for search activity (trying to get a good return for paying to appear in search engine rankings). It does depend on your aims, but make sure you have the free stuff right first, before you pay for anything!
We will help you look at key words, tagging on your site, linking opportunities, and loads of other good stuff. And we’ll make sure you know how to keep using all the things we suggest. Search engine optimisation is not something you do once and walk away. No sireee.
Widgets and applications: We love widgets and toys and stuff. We love to play with them. And we love to find uses for them for our clients. We can make your brand more interactive and add genuine value to your customers, and have fun with it too!
